Built in 1866 as a tobacco factory the building had been vacant for 3 years and was in probate court after the previous owner fell ill. There was an abundance of water damage that resulted in the back of the structure collapsing. The most distressed project we had ever taken on, the 12,000 square foot building was in desperate need of renovation, planning, design, and construction. ARK was hired to re-imagine the location and restore what had been lost, the first adaptive re-use project in a historic building which has been converted into 3 luxury loft apartments. Electrical and HVAC upgrade, new roof, plumbing, bathrooms, kitchens, and significant masonry repair has ensured the structure for many years to come. ARK coordinated the restoration utilizing the great relationships we have with vendors, sub-contractors and trades. ARK is very appreciative of the opportunity to renovate the former tobacco factory.
